Australian Breastfeeding Association discussion meetings are central to our education and support services. They are facilitated by trained educators and everyone has the opportunity to contribute. Topics are selected by the group in advance and reflect the ages and stages of member's babies. General topics on breastfeeding and parenting are offered, as well as more specific subjects and guest speakers of interest to families with young children. "The first meeting I went to I didn't even
have a baby! I was pregnant with my first and the meeting was "Toddlers,
Tantrums and Toilet Training" and I loved it! I loved hearing about things to
come and hearing the variety of experiences from mothers. It's what I have
continued to enjoy at meetings 2 and a bit years later - the topics on all
aspects of parenting and life (not just breastfeeding) and the different
experiences we all have. Discussion meetings have time to network before and after the discussion and refreshments are served. Venues may be private homes or community spaces and a meeting program is provided to all subscribers on a regular basis. Topics and other details are formulated by regular planning meetings, which are open to all. An informal layout of seating in a circle aids both listening and participation.Babies and toddlers are welcomed at all discussions. Play materials will be provided for older children. Partners, family or other support people are also welcome to attend. To find out details of upcoming discussions in your area, visit our ABA groups page. |
